The long-awaited appeal trial for incarcerated Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel and his co-accused is set to begin next Monday, July 9.

The “Highest Level” deejay’s appeal case is set to finally begin in the Jamaica Court of Appeal next week, four years after his attorneys filed the motion.

According to the deejay’s legal team, they are highly confident they can overturn the entertainer’s current life sentence for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams as the trial was marred by several irregularities.

According to Kartel’s attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson they seek to challenge the conviction on several grounds, including much of the evidence that was deemed as admissible during the landmark trial.

Sources close to the Gaza camp revealed that the “Worl Boss” is remaining cautiously optimistic as he is quite aware that the “system is against him.”

Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer was convicted along with three other men including Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and André St John, while a fifth man Shane Williams was freed.
